Ajax Warriors Soccer Club and Village Soccer Club of Ajax to become one.

Ajax, Ontario - February 20, 2002:

Over the past 12 months the Ajax Warriors Soccer Club and the Village Soccer Club of Ajax have been exploring the viability of amalgamating the two clubs. The Warriors, established in 1971 is the oldest club and largest youth club in Ajax. Year after year they continue to run successful Competitive and Houseleague programmes for boys and girls between the ages of 4 to adult. The Village Soccer Club of Ajax was established in 1972 as the Pickering Village Soccer Club. It originally catered to those Houseleague players in the Pickering Village area. As its reputation for being a small friendly club grew, it started to attract players from all over Ajax and neighbouring Pickering.

By merging the two clubs, The Ajax Soccer Club will strive to retain that friendly small town feel for its Houseleague players while it will have the membership needed to feed, run and maintain a strong competitive programme. A definite win / win situation for the kids, coaches, and parents of Ajax.

A committee, with members from both clubs, has been put in place to set up the structure of the Ajax Soccer Club. Combing the strength of the Warriors and the Village under one club, can only mean that, the Ajax Soccer Club will be a roaring success for those involved in soccer in this town.

Over the next few months the amalgamation committee will be seeking input and comments from its membership. The goal is to have the two clubs become one for the start of the 2002 Indoor Season.
